Still Life

"A still life (plural still lifes) is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on). With origins in the Middle Ages and Ancient Greek/Roman art, still life paintings give the artist more leeway in the arrangement of design elements within a composition than do paintings of other types of subjects such as landscape or portraiture. Still life paintings, particularly before 1700, often contained religious and allegorical symbolism relating to the objects depicted. Some modern still life breaks the two-dimensional barrier and employs three-dimensional mixed media, and uses found objects, photography, computer graphics, as well as video and sound."-WIKIPEDIA

zig zag / chevron

Is anyone else obsessed with the zig zag / Chevron fad like I am?!

On walls, furniture and area rugs... This is so easy to DIY it's ridiculous.. all you need is a steady hand and a ruler to create a pattern (use cardboard or something similar), painters tape, a roller and the appropriate paint.

It's Birthday Season!

I love October, it's home to Halloween and my birthday.  The aging I can do without, but the decorating is amazing

I'm sure I could've made this myself, but I bought this faux raven's feather wreath at Target for only $20.  I've used it for a few years now and I love it.

I also really love decorating the interior of your home for Halloween, keeping that haunted house feeling inside as well as outside.  Above is a design idea I got from Country Living magazine.

This dinning room table is not only set for entertaining a Halloween party but check out this wallpaper!

How simple and sweet is this idea from Woman's Day Magazine?!

This is also from Country Living Magazine.  I really love it and I'm going to try to do it myself.   I'll be sure to post a photo of the completed project.
